What once started as a music blog on Facebook grew into a playlist with 400 editions, its own sub-brand and relevance for our agency.

400 weeks of non-stop music: the story behind ODB Radio

Many people know it by now (or don't), but ON A DAILY BASIS once started as a music blog. In 2012 we launched a Facebook community where we shared new tracks daily: soulful hip hop, R&B, house, future beats, as long as it had feeling. Music as a starting point, community as a foundation.

Not long after, the blog grew into a site and a series of our own club nights. We had a team of regular bloggers and every day something went live. The thread? Soul. Whether it sat in a beat, a voice or a blog post, that feeling was (and still is) in our DNA.

From music blog to building brands

In 2017 our course changed. We felt nightlife was becoming too one-sided and were getting more and more inspired by collaborating with brands. Through our blog and events we were already working with parties like Sony, Bose, Jameson and Ben-G – and that collaboration left us wanting more. We wanted to understand what drives brands. How they stay relevant. How you really connect with an audience.

Meanwhile we'd gathered a network of creative makers around us: designers, photographers, videographers, all people we got to know through our own events. That became the foundation from which we started as an agency. We rented a space in the Volkshotel and simply started. Years on, we're still building ODB every day.

ODB Radio: every week, fresh

Music is still an essential part of who we are. That's why on 4 June 2017 we launched ODB Radio: a weekly playlist on Spotify with 30 tracks, curated by Pim. To play at the office, on the go or just in your weekend.

This week we've reached edition 400 (!). That's almost eight years of weekly playlists, without missing a single week. And always for the same reason: discovering, sharing and connecting through new music.

ODB Radio is more than a playlist

By now it's grown into a fully-fledged sub-brand. A place where music, people and brands come together. ODB Radio is our creative playground, and at the same time our proof of concept. Because as an agency you can say you understand how to stay relevant, but if you're not building anything yourself, what do you really have to say?

With ODB Radio we organise events, give talent a platform and build community. For and with the new generation.

Saturday 10 May we celebrate together

To celebrate 400 weeks of ODB Radio, we're hosting a drinks event on Saturday 10 May at ODB HQ, Leidseplein 33-2 in Amsterdam.

With art by Zeeger Carpaij, drinks from STËLZ, and of course music from ODB Radio. From 14:00 to 18:00 we toast to many more great weeks, collaborations and new energy.
